Larry Davis, Senior High Pastor at ORBC in Salisbury drew my attention to this video from the “New Song Cafe” at www.worshiptogether.com.
Anytime that I get to see Crowder teaching his riffs and instrumentation… I’m in.
But the added bonus is the little story about the Wesley brothers in connection with the hymn “O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing”… and it’s pretty sweet to see the “Open E” tuning in action.
(FACTOID: it’s been a couple of years since I played it… but from what I remember… this same Open E tuning is used to play Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls)
Anywho… click here and ENJOY!

In my previous blog (”studio 7o7 phase:one“) I discussed much of the planning, thoughts, and motivation behind the Studio 7o7 design. In this blog about “phase:two”… I would like for the photos to speak for themselves.
As you peruse the photos, please comment me any Q’s that you might have. There are few greater joys in ministry than sharing ideas and thoughts that the Lord has given. They are His ideas and thoughts in the beginning… and the messy conduit of my brain does nothing but reinforce the fact that they remain His ideas and thoughts. I would love to discuss the intricacies of hanging chainlink fencing from the ceiling and securing the posts to a 3-inch thick concrete pad with nothing more than epoxy and a prayer. I would love to discuss the plans for the next phase (”phase:three”) and the remaining elements in “phase:two” (what you mean your not done yet? hahahaaaa). Comment your thoughts and questions and I will work very hard to respond to each one.
Again… please let me stress (just as I did in my last blog about “phase:one”) that this space design in Studio 7o7 would not have been possible without all of the amazing volunteers who worked with diligence, perseverance, creativity, patience, and excellence. I am very appreciative of the expertise and flexibility that the guys at Natural Concepts Landscaping displayed as they worked hard to install chainlink in a NEW way. I am thankful for my Senior Pastor who was willing to allow me to build this unique vision for Allen’s Student Ministry that I had sketched in my mind for months (and years).
Here we go…
Once the chainlink began going up… the other things moved very quickly…
More updates to come…

I went back and replayed the Pride of Oklahoma Band performance from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in hopes of capturing Ryland’s dance. Of course a picture doesn’t do it justice. Imagine seeing Ryland’s right shoulder raise as he tilts his head to the right and then alternates to the left. This pattern repeats as he runs in a circle and says guh-lee, guh-lee, guh-lee in his infant tenor voice.

We woke up to beautiful 70 degree weather this thanksgiving morning…
which put us in a thankful mood right off the bat.
Ryan cooked our traditional fried turkey,
and I cooked all the extras.

Our meal consisted of spinach dip, stuffed celery, fried turkey, stuffing, rolls, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, puppy chow, pumpkin pie, Dr. Pepper, and white grape juice.

It’s amazing how quickly things can change in a year.
One year ago…
+Amanda and I were four months into our lives as parents.
+Bonham, Texas was where we called home… Boyd was our church family and the ”brick cottage” on 1004 Oak Street was our casa.
+We had never seen ”Mary’s Land” with our own eyes… but Allen had already purchased plane tickets for us to journey to the Eastern Shore for the next phase of our interview process.
+Ryland, Amanda, and I were celebrating Thanksgiving with my mom (Darlene), my little brother (Derick), my maternal grandparents (Gayle and Paquita Webb), and my family in Tulsa.
+Amanda was planning our Black Friday excursion with her uber-focused-super-shopping-master-mind. Circuit City was set squarely in our sights (along with Target, Mardell’s, and Wal-Mart) and we were dragging both Derick and Ryland along with us. The plan called for a 4 am arrival at the Circuit City parking lot… and an hour wait in the cool morning. When we arrived, we found ourselves snugly sandwiched between the 150-200 shoppers who were in front of us… and the 100-150 shoppers who were behind us. Finally the doors opened and the rush began. Amanda had us set in a protective formation around Ryland (who was in my arms and surprisingly happy). As we entered, Derick noted that there was a camera crew and a couple of tv reporters who were filming and commentating all of the craziness. We swiftly located and purchased the video camera (which was our main attraction) and the SD Card (which was second on the list). Upon our exit from the madness… one of the tv reporters grabbed his camera-man by the shoulder and quickly jogged over to us. The following video documents our early morning conversation with Channel 2 News…
Channel 2 Interview with the Weavers: “THE LAUGHTERS”
(This interview was aired on the local news in Tulsa several times throughout that day. We watched it live twice… and my mom recorded it on Grandma and Grandpa Webb’s VCR for us. The “memories and moments and laughters” of that Thanksgiving holiday are very special to us… and stinkin’ hilarious! Derick is the one grinning like the Cheshire Cat in the background, Amanda is the beautiful woman in the shot, I’m the moron talking about “memories and moments and laughters”, and our four-month-old Chico is the one stealing the camera with his infectiously toothless grin.)

Wow!
It was amazing to see ”OKLAHOMA!” broadcast live from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Ya gotta love that Pride of Oklahoma Marching Band!
Although… I must say that I was hoping for a little THRILLER… but I will always gladly settle for the classic musical reprise (dare I say… the greatest musical theme of all time?).
Anywho… I wish I had the video camera on Chico as he danced his way around the living room. Amanda called me back inside from frying our modest 13-pound bird just in time to catch Chico doing his thing with the Pride of Oklahoma cranked up in the background. Just imagine my boy moving his shoulders from side-to-side while walking in circles and grinning from ear-to-ear. It was greatness!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Is it just me… or is every new episode of HOUSE featuring a patient who begins coughing up profuse amounts of blood from the mouth and nose… at the most random-yet-opportune moment?
This blood-coughing is getting old… and predictable (Amanda actually said “Here comes the blood” right before the magician-guy started flowing like a faucet).

Ryland has been able to pat, bang, clap, and move to the beat for quite some time now. In fact he breaks out in an adorable dance to anything resembling a beat. And… thanks to Mr. Michael Tull, he loves to bang on the Djembe and anything he can find that will make a similar sound. The rhythm has definately got him.
Recently he was watching the AM/SM Worship Team play and he fell in love with the trap set. After our practice he climbed on the stage and began to beat on one of the floor toms. It didn’t take long for Ryland to get Tyler Ringer to give him the sticks and assist him in playing. It was exciting to watch as Ryland “played” the drums. Of course he’s got a long way to go, but Chico definitley has a future in drumming (hahahahaha).
Thanks Tyler for taking the time to give Rylz his first drum lesson!

Allen’s Cell Pastor, Michael Sove, is also lovingly known as “The Vulture” on our Pastoral Team for his enduring passion to reach out to his neighbors with the Message of Christ. (*note: Sove contests that he should be known as “The Eagle” since he is seeking to reach the “living” not the “dead”… nonetheless… his efforts have not been convincing enough as he has remained ”The Vulture”.)
A week ago, Sove the Cell Pastor was the featured Guest Blogger on Joel Comiskey’s Cell Movement Blog. The story that Sove shares is one that is extremely encouraging. Many people talk about evangelism… Sove WALKS it… literally.
Check out his two-part guest blog:
