Circuit City...

It’s amazing how quickly things can change in a year.

One year ago…

+Amanda and I were four months into our lives as parents.

+Bonham, Texas was where we called home… Boyd was our church family and the ”brick cottage” on 1004 Oak Street was our casa.

+We had never seen ”Mary’s Land” with our own eyes… but Allen had already purchased plane tickets for us to journey to the Eastern Shore for the next phase of our interview process.

+Ryland, Amanda, and I were celebrating Thanksgiving with my mom (Darlene), my little brother (Derick), my maternal grandparents (Gayle and Paquita Webb), and my family in Tulsa.

+Amanda was planning our Black Friday excursion with her uber-focused-super-shopping-master-mind. Circuit City was set squarely in our sights (along with Target, Mardell’s, and Wal-Mart) and we were dragging both Derick and Ryland along with us. The plan called for a 4 am arrival at the Circuit City parking lot… and an hour wait in the cool morning. When we arrived, we found ourselves snugly sandwiched between the 150-200 shoppers who were in front of us… and the 100-150 shoppers who were behind us. Finally the doors opened and the rush began. Amanda had us set in a protective formation around Ryland (who was in my arms and surprisingly happy). As we entered, Derick noted that there was a camera crew and a couple of tv reporters who were filming and commentating all of the craziness. We swiftly located and purchased the video camera (which was our main attraction) and the SD Card (which was second on the list). Upon our exit from the madness… one of the tv reporters grabbed his camera-man by the shoulder and quickly jogged over to us. The following video documents our early morning conversation with Channel 2 News…

Channel 2 Interview with the Weavers: “THE LAUGHTERS”

(This interview was aired on the local news in Tulsa several times throughout that day. We watched it live twice… and my mom recorded it on Grandma and Grandpa Webb’s VCR for us. The “memories and moments and laughters” of that Thanksgiving holiday are very special to us… and stinkin’ hilarious! Derick is the one grinning like the Cheshire Cat in the background, Amanda is the beautiful woman in the shot, I’m the moron talking about “memories and moments and laughters”, and our four-month-old Chico is the one stealing the camera with his infectiously toothless grin.)
