.: 15 minutes with Ryland…

August 28th, 2007 by Amanda Weaver

The following is a pictoral documentary of playtime with a thirteen month-old human named Ryland. These pictures were taken over the span of 15 minutes.  Only one camera was used. The photographer did interact with the subject… but only when necessary to prevent injury, distress, and for normal mother-son play. No Ryland’s were harmed in the making of this documentary.

The Subject

Refusing To Look At The Camera

The Ryland Becomes Curious About the Camera

(A game that features note duration, pitch change, and the “word” Ahhhh….
can be played with 1-2 opponents)

The Ryland Grabs His Favorite Book.

“Reading” is One of The Ryland’s Favorite Playtime Activities. He can sit and “read” books for double digit numbers of minutes. He loves to bring books to his parents… so they will read to him. He sits and listens as they read. After finishing he takes the book and prentends to read the book himself. Often he will then bring another book to be read or hand the same book back to the parent to read agian. It is not uncommon for the Ryland to read 5-10 books in one sitting.

too cute he’s like the little kid at the end of zoolander

  2. Nana Says:

I love the pictures and the annotations………too funny! (Yes, Amanda, you are funny!) You know that I love him “reading” too.

On one of the scrapbooking shows — a lady did “twelve on the twelfth.” She took twelve random pictures on the twelfth of every month and scrapbooked them onto one page. It was a cute idea I knew I would share with you.

    FOREVER! Momma

    Thanks for listening and praying.

  3. Windy Says:

the pictures are great…I love them…..he is sooooo cute…..I love the commentary and just getting to have a little glimpse into the everyday life of The Ryland. This is something I wonder about on a regular basis so please do more documentaries on this very interesting subject….and as a note to the director…great job…

Love and miss you very much

    NOTE TO ALL:

This Documentary of The Ryland was photographed without the supervision and censorship of the Father Weaver Network (which was traveling to the Land of Chesapeake, Virginia on an AMBC Staff Training Trip). If the Father Weaver Network were available for this photo documentary… the Father Weaver Network would have ensured that The Ryland would not have been forced to wear the “old skool corduroy football helmet” that is featured in this photo session. Thank you…

I love My nephew Ryland! Ahh he’s so cute! Can’t wait to Chill with the Weavers this coming happy holiday seasn! love you all! RYLAND ROCKS! hehe

    Hey Weaverman,
I like the “football” helmet. Leave your better half alone - she did well while you circumnavigated the wonderful world of delmarvaland. I had a hat like that when I was Rylandman’s age anyway. See fashion trends do repeat themselves after a few decades. ROFL

  7. Ryan Weaver Says:

    POWERS2BE…

I thought that you only had clothes designed from dino-leather when you were Ryland’s age. Paint me shocked. haha!

  8. Ryan Weaver Says:

    Aunt JO…

We are also extremely excited about your trip to the Eastern Shore. Amanda and I are already praying daily for good weather during the days of your travels to Maryland!

  9. Brad Says:

Oh the days when you had 15 minutes alone with one child. This a classic first child moment. I have a 80 gig Hard drive full of pics of Adam. Then came Taylor. I think we have a pic of her when she was born? I will have to hunt for that.

    Many Blessings:

    B

    ADAMSON BRADLEY…

Thanks for the comment bro. And although I have not experienced the “second child syndrome”… I hear that it sucks for that child to be “NUMBA TWO”. hahaaha!

  11. M-Dub Says:

    this kid is awesome

  12. Pops Says:

Those pictures were awesome!! Ryan, stay out of it! The “hat” shows character. Love, Pops

  13. Ryan Weaver Says:

    M-Dub and Pops…

He is a pretty awesome kid… and “hat character” is in the eye of the beholder. This father believes that the cord-football-helmet is a electric display of bad fashion sense and nothing more. hahaha!

  14. Ryan Weaver Says:

    Continuing my thought…

Ryland’s father thinks that he actually looks like a University of Texas fan (or even a University of Michigan fan) in that hat. Boooo! Boooo! RUBBISH! TEXAS SUCKS! MICHIGAN SUCKS! BAD SHOW! BAD SHOW!

  15. Amanda Weaver Says:

Don’t you ever say my son looks like a UT fan. It is simply not possible. His spirit screams “Boomer Sooner”.
Secondly… the mark of the Wolverine is a continuous tear trickling from the right eye… Do you see any tears? I think not.

It is a hat. Nothing more. An object that looks quite adorable on our son’s precious little head.

I am sorry that you had to go on your field trip and therefor missed these 15 minutes of fun with your son, but you really need to get over it.

  16. Ryan Weaver Says:

    Manda…

You’re right. I’m sorry. My bitterness knows no bounds… and my “Fatherly Disclaimers” know no shame. Let me scream for everyone to read on the World Wide InterWebNetOrgCom… I am very proud that you are as talented as you are at capturing these moments for me, for our family, and for those who check our blog just to check on “That Weaver Kid”. I love you, my wife.

    p.s.
All of the “silly hats” (such as the cord-football-helmet) in Chico’s collection have now been burned in the creek-bed behind the greystone. They burned quickly with no pain. I considered taking them to the Goodwill… but those things were hideous… and I’m quite sure that the Goodwill Lady would have rejected each one. As you are dealing with this news… please remember… “It is a hat… Nothing more.” Viva La Fuego!

    p.s.s.
Who gave us those hideous things anyway? Ohhhh… wait a minute… no wonder Pops was defending the “character” of that hat. It all makes sense now… hugs and kisses…

  17. Amanda Weaver Says:

That “silly hat” will rise again. Just you wait and see.

  18. Pops Says:

Do not despair, Amanda! Just found a web site with MANY hats with character. Hats forever! Down with “hat haters!”

  19. MIMI Says:

With or without a hat, Ryland is the cutest and brightest grandson in the whole wide world!!! (I am not prejudist, just truthful!) Thanks for the pictural insite into Ryland’s sweet life. Love and miss you all, MIMI

  20. Uncle T Says:

Ryland totally has the whole Zoolander look going for him…..which is very important in life….you either have it or you dont!
