.: wbmt update…

Thanks to Cody Cain for the link to the photo above… and he’s right… it was time that I updated my blog. Right now I am stealing some bandwidth from Honey Grove ISD as I sit in the high skool parking lot with a Texas-thunderstorm raging around this rental car.
Here’s a quick run-down on our last couple of days since my last blog…
.: Manda, Rylz, and I hopped on a plane last Tuesday, headed for OKC. We got stuck in Las Vegas for somewhere around 5 hours due to some insane winds around the airport. So we missed our flight to OKC with the delays and the backup. Unfortunately, our luggage did not unload with us in Las Vegas… and was sent on to our original destination. Southwest Airlines was extremely accomodating as they worked hard to get us as close to The City as possible… KANSAS CITY. We could have stayed overnight in Kansas City, or we could rent a car and drive the rest of the way (about a 6 hour drive). Amanda and I chose option two… and hit the road to grab our luggage at Will Rogers Airport in OKC. We arrived safely (and exhausted) at around 6 am on Thursday morning.
.: The Nickles Wedding (stop number one on the “Weaver Best Man Tour”) was beautiful. The rehearsal, bachelor hang-out, wedding, and reception all went very well. I still feel very honored to be A-Nick’s Best Man… and to be allowed to be A-Nick’s Best Man by Serena (hahaha).
.: We attended Boyd Baptist Church on Sunday morning. It was great to see my former students, former fellow church members, former staff members, and to meet BBSM’s new Student Pastor/Children’s Pastor. It is a great relief to know that the students that I spent so much time shepherding from 2003-2006 are now firmly in the care of a very confident, capable, and caring man. I am thankful that the Lord answered the prayers that Amanda and I have been praying since last November (when we KNEW that we were being CALLED to the Eastern Shore) for Boyd Baptist Church and Boyd Baptist Student Ministry. (side-note: it’s pretty crazy that we were at Saddleback in Cali two Sundays ago, at Boyd in Tejas last Sunday, and that next Sunday we’ll be back home in Maryland with our gracious and patient Allen Memorial family… TALK ABOUT CHURCH HOPPING!!!)
.: The Whitehead Wedding (stop number two on the “Weaver Best Man Tour”… except for the fact that I was not the best man… I was the preacher-man) was also beautiful. This wedding has been generations in the making. The Lord has been at work in this for many, many years. Windy and Johnny’s marriage is a living testimony to the Lord’s movement in the lives of teenagers (and parents… and Student Pastors) who pray fervently. I’m still not quite sure that the gravity of this culmination of events that the Lord has orchestrated has become a finite reality in my mind. I am still honored to have been allowed to play the minor supporting role that was given me.
.: I traveled to the Ballpark in Arlington on Monday with Dad (Pops to Rylz) and Derick (Uncle T to Rylz) for our annual fantasy football draft. It was awesome to spend that time chilling, laughing, eating, drafting, and conversating with my closest friends. This fantasy football league is a mosaic collection of men who know me well enough to ruthlessly hold me accountable… and relentlessly dissect my motives. Spending time in a room with them… for whatever excuse… is always especially meaningful.
.: We have been spending as much of our in-between-time with family… and have been loving every moment of that. It has been so great to spend such quality time with both of our families… and to see Ryland remembering, re-adapting, and re-learning these precious relationships that are so important.
.: There are four days until our next flight is scheduled to bring us back to Baltimore. NEXT STOP… OKC for the Hendrix Wedding….
PRESS ON!!!
