.: typical tattoo green…

Many years ago, I became fascinated with tattoos… and vowed to find a reason for some ink on my body. Somewhere along the way… “the reason” materialized and has steadily remained in my heart. I have been patiently awaiting the right timing… and the provision of a tattoo artist that I could trust.
When we arrived on the Left Coast… Stephen La Garde (one of Amanda’s cousins) and I were talking about life… and his tattoos. By the end of our conversation, Stephen had placed several calls and scheduled me an appointment with a tattoo artist at Resurrection Tattoo in Pasadena. Amanda was then forced to kick her artistic abilities into anxiety-mode as she captured the design that encompassed “the reason”.
This afternoon Amanda and I journeyed 50 miles to Pasadena, California for the first of my tattoos. This specific tattoo represents my relationship, vision, and hope for my son. There are several images that are worked into the design of this “crest”. Here is a picto-journal of my tattoo… with some captions…
.: The stencil was placed and the first line was inked…

.: With the outline etched, the shading commenced…

.: The finished product…

As your mother, I never thought that I would be happy for you to get a tatoo. But, since this is a combination of Amanda’s awesome artwork (yes, I am shamefully fishing for an original Manda painting, drawing, etc.), fulfillment of a longtime dream, and my awesome grandson is represented in the crest, that I am able to put my reservations aside and be happy for you!!!!!!

The tat is nice, but the best part for me was taking care of my precious grandson (even though he missed his mother and father at the end of the day). We (I) had a great time. Thank you for entrusting him to me for that short time. I will not ever forget the experience!
I miss you guys.
Have a blessed time with all those other people who love you all.
