MLB Opening day 2007...

I know this is some uncharacteristic back-to-back-sports-blogging… but the moment is perfect to bring “America’s past-time” back into the spotlight on the [r]weaverBLOG.

Opening Day for the BIGs is tomorrow (Sunday the 1st)… and Monday for the Rangers and Nationals.

Manda and I had hoped to get things perfectly aligned up so we could make the trip to RFK Stadium to attend Opening Day in D.C. with the Nats on Monday… but we were just not able to force things to come together for that to become a reality (at least not at this point… I’m still efforting).

While we are living on the Eastern Shore, we have decided to embrace a couple of the local sports teams… like the Nats… and probably the Redskins (because I have respected Joe Gibbs for quite some time… while also simultaneously hating the Cowboys)… and maybe even the Ravens (because Manda likes their purple uniforms… and Ray Lewis’ pre-game dance).

ESPN2 will be featuring the Rangers road-opener against the Angels… and you can rest assured that we will be watching with our family jerseys on… right after we catch Jack Bauer’s latest world-saving, super-human feats.

Alrighty then… back to the Final Four watching…

Now wait a minute… I am not some idiot girl who chooses a team cuz I like the uniforms. I don’t like the ’skins cuz Portis failed me and can not be trusted. So by default the Ravens get my vote. I know football. Maybe not as well as you and your CCFL friends, but I’m sure I’ve got those Nickles boys beat, that lead butt JFox, and probably your Ladonia too. I demand a retraction!!!

  2. Ryan Weaver Says:

    Consider this your RETRACTION:

-You are right when you say that Clinton Portis failed everyone in fantasy football during the 2006 season (including your Dung Master Team).

-You are also right when you say that you do not simply choose a team based on their uniforms.

-But what you are hiding from the world is your original reasons for loving the CRIMSON and CREME. That’s right, my love, time to shed a little light on your “original reasons” for choosing to embrace the OKLAHOMA SOONERS as your TEAM when you were merely a young teen…

  3. Amanda Weaver Says:

Okay… I admit to the root of my love for the Sooners. What you have said is true. However I am not that same 14 year old girl. I have become a wise woman, and have turned my back on such trivial-decision making techniques.

I see we share another affinity. I love the Rangers. Grew up in the DFW area.

Amanda and I were able to catch our first Rangers game this season last nite… since they were on ESPN. They lost… but it was still great to see Young, Tex, and Hank in action. Glad that we share a love for the Rangers… they need all the love that can be mustered.
